Erasmus Student Network & buddy system ESN

Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is the biggest student association in Europe. It was born on the 16th October 1989 and legally registered in 1990 for supporting and developing student exchange.

Erasmus Student Network Slovakia (ESN Slovakia) is a non-profit student organisation. Mission is to represent international students, thus provide opportunities for cultural understanding and self-development under the principle of Students Helping Students. Every year, 10 ESN sections from Bratislava to Košice take care of almost 2,000 Erasmus students. ESN SK represents international students and organize trips, cultural and social activities and events for them.

Studia Academica Slovaca - The Centre for Slovak as a Foreign Language

Studia Academica Slovaca – The Centre for Slovak as a Foreign Language (SAS) is a specialized centre at the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University (FF UK) in Bratislava. 

The pedagogical and research activities focus on education of foreigners interested in Slovak language and culture, propagation of Slovak science, culture and art abroad, implementation and coordination of the research of Slovak as a foreign language, realization of international and domestic research projects and publishing activities aimed at creating and publishing academic Slovakist publications and textbooks of Slovak as a foreign language. Besides that, SAS – as an expert centre for Slovak as a foreign language – traditionally participates in scintific-methodical preparation of lecturers of Slovak as a foreign language teaching at universities abroad. The result of the cooperation with the lectorates and foreign Slavists builds a database of Slavonic studies abroad.

Individual part of the Centre's activities are annual organization and realization of Summer School of Slovak Language and Culture Studia Academica Slovaca, which has been offered to the foreign applicants since 1965. Methodical Centre SAS has reassumed its succesfull history in 1992, and in 2006 it has transformed into SAS – The Centre for Slovak as a Foreign Language. In its almost half-century existence, SAS has shaped its contents and methodology, and has become a respected and coveted institution, with almost 6 000 foreign alumni interested in Slovak language, culture and realia from more than 51 countries all over the world. On the grounds of Studia Academica Slovaca was laid the basis of scientific description and didactics of Slovak as a foreign language, and thanks to its cooperators, first textbooks and didactics of Slovak as a foreign language were written. In relation to its wide tradition and experience, SAS currently works as a coordination and information centre with Slovakwide as well as exteriorial sphere of activity.

Comenius University Academic Library

Comenius University Academic Library (CU AL) is a central scientific and information workplace focusing on information support of research and education at the Comenius University in Bratislava. Academic Library provides library, information, bibliographic, documentation, retrieval and other services for its users (mostly students, teaching staff and academic community).

The CU Academic Library is not a typical library, where all the stocks and services are concentrated in one building. It consists of 13 independent faculty libraries located in different places in Bratislava, respectively even in the other Slovak towns, and the Academic Library Centre, which is responsible for management and coordination of mutual cooperation of faculty libraries.
The CU Academic library produces two own databases - the Union Catalogue of Comenius University and the Database of Publication Activities of CU staff. At the same time the library, by means of website of the Virtual Library, provides the access to external information resources for CU academic community.

If you need to verify obtained degrees issued by the Comenius University in Bratislava you have to write your request to the Department of Education at the Rectorate or for PhD. verification - Department of Science and Postgradual Studies - Rectorate of Comenius University
