Support for students with fewer opportunities/disability
Participants with severe disabilities (with a severely disabled person card)
For long-term mobility, students with severe disabilities – individuals with a functional impairment of at least 50% (with a card for a severely disabled person) – are entitled to a flat-rate allowance (top-up) of 250 € per month. The special grant is offered on the basis of information about the severe disability in the mobility application form in the SOP Mobility Online system. The grant takes the form of a flat-rate allowance; no billing is required.
The short-term mobility allowance is 100 € for a physical mobility activity lasting 5 to 14 days and 150 € for an activity lasting 15 to 30 days.
If the amount of the flat rate is not sufficient to cover the additional costs caused by the disability, the participant can apply for reimbursement of the actual additional costs of the stay instead of the flat rate (both students and staff on Erasmus mobility). You can apply throughout the whole year – Application form for a mobility participant with special needs. Further information on applying for a Special Needs Grant can be obtained from the contact person for Erasmus students with special needs at CU:

The National Agency of the Erasmus+ Programme decides on the reimbursement of the actual costs of extraordinary expenses related to the mobility of a severely disabled participant on the basis of the submitted application.
The applicant for a special grant is obliged to answer all questions in the application form. In the application, he/she shall indicate the amount of the expected costs he/she will need due to his/her special needs. A mobility participant who receives a special grant to reimburse actual costs is obliged to account for this grant. After returning from mobility, he/she must submit to his/her university (Erasmus coordinator) all the supporting documents for the settlement of the special ERASMUS+ grant (e.g. accompanying person’s flight ticket, invoice for special transport/accommodation, etc.).
It is provided in the form of actual costs. It is intended to cover additional costs incurred for participants with a lack of opportunities in connection with mobility in cases where the top-up (flat rate) would not be able to cover these costs.
Examples of actual costs:
- Transport allowance (e.g. rental of a special motor vehicle if the person is dependent on individual transport by private motor vehicle or such transport is provided by an authorised person/community/social service provider)
- Allowance if the mobility participant needs assistance or care (e.g. reimbursement for a natural person who provides personal assistance on the basis of a written contract or for a family member in the case of care)
- Travel and accommodation allowance for the accompanying person
- Medical treatments
- Material support for participants – special teaching aids, special medical supplies, etc.
Mandatory attachments to the application form:
- Copy of the card of a severely disabled person. If the University student/staff member is a citizen or resident of another country, a copy of a similar document certifying his/her severe disability in his/her own country
- Confirmation that the host institution is aware of the severe disability or special need of the hosted student/staff member and can provide appropriate facilities and support (accommodation, teaching aids, seminars, library, etc.) within the scope of his/her disability or special need.
Participants with a chronic illness without the severely disabled person card
Participants whose health condition does not allow them to participate in mobility without additional financial support can apply for support. The special grant is offered on the basis of information about the severe disability in the mobility application form in the SOP Mobility Online system. The student must be registered in the list of students with special needs. If the student wishes to apply for the top-up, he/she must contact the Support Centre for Students with Special Needs and report to Ms. PaedDr. Elena Mendelová, CSc. The grant takes the form of a flat-rate allowance; no billing is required.

The Erasmus Office decides on the granting of support before signing the Erasmus contract on the basis of information on the receipt of a social grant in the mobility application form in the SOP Mobility Online system and on the basis of a social grant certificate, a certificate of material need from the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and family or a confirmation of receiving orphan's pension.
