Teaching the children of refugees math online
Yuliia Trotska, a student at the Department of Didactics in Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of CU’s FMPI, teaches Ukrainian children mathematics in an online course.
The children of refugees from Ukraine who came to Slovakia can no longer attend their schools because most schools in Ukraine either switched to distance learning or stopped operating entirely until further notice. Now they have an opportunity to follow a free online course in mathematics designed by Yuliia Trotska. Students from Ukraine can enrol and spend their time productively.
“Many can’t go to schools and it’s difficult for everyone because there are no study programmes, but we have to learn and adapt. I want to help the children in this difficult time," says Yuliia. At the moment she offers two courses. One is for elementary school pupils in Grades 7 to 9 and the other one is for high school students. Lessons take place online on Zoom.

Діти біженці з України, які приїхали до Словаччини, втратили можливість навчання, оскільки більшість українських шкіл перейшли на дистанційне навчання або повністю припинили роботу до подальшого повідомлення. Щойно вони отримали безкоштовний онлайн-курс математики, який ініціювала студентка Юлія Троцька. Його можуть відвідати школярі з України та провести час з користю.
«Школа для багатьох зупинилася і всім важко, бо немає навчання, а треба вчитися і розвиватися. Я хочу допомогти дітям у цей непростий час», – розповідає Юлія. Вона відкрила два курси. Один призначений для учнів 7-9 класів, а інший для старшокласників. Заняття проходять онлайн на платформі Zoom.
