According to THE WUR ranking CU is the best Slovak university in 8 out of 11 evaluated subjects
In the latest, 2024 edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject, Comenius University was the best ranked Slovak university in eight subjects. This is two more than last year: law and psychology. At the same time, it was ranked in the highest number of subjects of all Slovak universities.
THE WUR ranking was published at the end of September. CU was ranked 1001st - 1200th out of 1904 universities, same as last year. This is the only ranking of universities in which CU ranks just below the top one thousand schools worldwide. At the end of October, the agency also published its ranking by subject.
Comenius University received the following ranking:
- Arts and Humanities: 501st - 600th place
- Business and Economics: 601st - 800th place
- Clinical and Health: 601st - 800th place
- Computer Science: 601st - 800th place
- Education: 501st - 600th place
- Engineering: unrated
- Law: 301st+ place
- Life Sciences: 601st - 800th place
- Physical Sciences: 801st – 1000th place
- Psychology: 501st - 600th place
- Social Sciences: 601st – 800th place
Comenius University received ranking in two new subjects – psychology and law. CU achieved its highest ranking in law, 301st+ place, and in arts and humanities, education, and psychology – the 501st - 600th place band. Charles University ranked higher in all of these subjects, Masaryk University ranked higher in three subjects and had the same ranking in education.
CU is the only ranked Slovak university in four subjects: arts and humanities, psychology, law, and education. Compared to last year, it improved its ranking in the subjects of social sciences and life sciences.
Despite the fact that the number of evaluated and ranked universities increases every year, CU retains approximately the same overall ranking.

Comenius University is the only Slovak university to be ranked in all important rankings. According to The Center for World University Rankings, it is 661st in the world. It reached the 771st-780th place in the QS World University Rankings. In the Round University Ranking, it is ranked 589th. In ARWU ranking (Shanghai ranking) it placed in the 901st-1000th place band. The prestigious Best Global Universities ranking ranks it 639th overall. In the NTU Ranking (National Taiwan University Rankings) it is ranked 851st-900th. In the ranking of The Three University Missions MosIUR it is in 286th place. THE WUR ranking puts Comenius University in the 1001st-1200th place band overall. World University Ranking RankPro placed it in 454th place in the world and in 222nd place in Europe.
