Exhibition of Italian Football at CU’s Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Brings Iconic Trophies
Bratislava, 17 June 2025: While Slovakia is hosting the prestigious UEFA Under-21 European Championship, the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of Comenius University Bratislava (CU FSPORT) has opened a unique exhibition entitled Sfumature di azzurro – Shades of Azure. It features original trophies and rare artefacts of Italian football, evoking not only legendary moments but above all the values represented by this sport.
Visitors to the CU FSPORT premises can admire iconic items from the Football Museum in Coverciano, such as Sandro Salvadore’s jersey from the 1968 European Championship, the ball from the 2006 World Cup Final, and Giorgio Chiellini’s captain’s armband. Each exhibit tells a story of determination, teamwork, and passion—the foundations of Italian football’s success.
The significance of the exhibition transcends sport and the tournament itself. “I believe this exhibition will inspire visitors and remind them of the emotions football brings. Here, the symbols of victory represent determination and team spirit,” said CU FSPORT Vice-Dean Ľubor Tománek in his address.
At the opening, Ambassador of Italy Gianclemente De Felice emphasised the broader dimension of the event: “Sport is a platform for mutual understanding between societies. It is a competition, but above all it embodies fairness, respect, effort, and continuity. When sport is linked with education, it gains unique pedagogical value, which is why I am pleased that the exhibition is taking place in an academic setting.”
The exhibition at CU FSPORT also included a conference on the transition of players into senior-level football, with a keynote speech by Italian coach Mario Beretta. His lecture was followed by a talk by the Technical Director of the Slovak Football Association (SFZ) Roman Pivarník and by Peter Kopúň, Head Coach of the Slovak Women’s A Team, who addressed SFZ's reorganisation of women’s and girls’ competitions with a view to player development.
The exhibition "Sfumature di azzurro – Shades of Azure" was organised by the Italian Football Federation and the Embassy of Italy in Bratislava, in cooperation with CU FSPORT and the Italian Football Coaches Association.
