Comenius University Presented Itself in Central Asia
From 26 February to 2 March 2025, Comenius University Bratislava (CU) participated in the international Begin Group fairs in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
The participation of representatives from the International Relations Office and the External Relations Office of Comenius University in the cities of Tashkent, Astana, and Almaty aimed to attract high-quality applicants by promoting CU's study programmes in Slovak and English across all three levels of study.
Each fair was visited by approximately 1,000 prospective students, with the CU stand being among the most visited, even in competition with leading East Asian universities. The highest interest was observed in management programmes, while a joint master's programme with the French University of Bordeaux also generated significant attention. Prospective students also inquired about medical programmes, as well as natural sciences, law, and mathematics and physics.
CU representatives provided practical information on admission procedures, visa arrangements, accommodation options, and daily life in Bratislava and Slovakia.
"A total of around 500 students expressed interest in studying at our university, confirming our analyses, which identified the Central Asian region as a priority for recruiting international students," said Martin Považan, Head of the International Relations Office at CU.
In addition to participating in the fairs, the delegation also held productive meetings with the ambassadors of the Slovak Republic in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and established contacts with foreign universities to explore cooperation opportunities. These activities contribute to strengthening CU's international position and open new opportunities for recruiting talented students from abroad and developing strategic partnerships.
CU's participation in the fairs was supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic under the call for "Support for Projects Promoting Universities Abroad."
