The UNICA Conference: Universities in Europe
Comenius University in Bratislava will hold the general assembly of UNICA and a rectors’ seminar on “Universities in Europe: From a Hundred Years back to a Hundred Years Forward”. The meeting of rectors and vice-rectors from universities based in European capital cities will take place in Comenius University’s historical building from 15 to 16 November 2018. UNICA brings together 49 universities from 37 European capital cities, bringing together more than 160,000 staff and 1.9 million students.
The UNICA general meeting will take place on 15 November 2018. The rector’s seminar will be opened at 8:30 am in the Comenius University Rector’s Hall by Professor Karol Mičieta as the hosting rector and the UNICA President, Professor Luciano Saso.
In separate sessions, talks will be given by rectors from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Charles University in Prague, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Dublin, the University of Rome Tor Vergata, the New University of Lisbon, and by vice-rectors from a variety of universities. Meetings will be held in sessions which thematically focus on the challenges of modern university education for traditional European universities as well as young European universities, and provides visions of education and research for the future.
