Some people find out that they no longer enjoy the field of study they chose. They wonder what to study instead and doubt creeps in whether to study at all. Some wonder about the possible career paths after graduating. Others need confirmation that they are going in the right direction. Career counselling can help with all these questions, but it can also be useful when drafting your resume or letter of motivation, or before your first job interview. In any of these cases, you can make use of career counselling, provided free of charge by Comenius University Bratislava, at its Mlyny campus.

Individual counselling is available along with group counselling in the form of workshops. Individual career counselling takes place in-person or online. The first meeting serves to explore the client's situation and determine the goals. „Later in the counselling process, I accompany my clients and offer them support. I use various innovative methods based on building experiences, and techniques that encourage spontaneity. The goal is to achieve better knowledge of oneself, to improve efficient decision-making and career planning,“ says Dominika Vajdová, CU’s career counsellor.

In the next academic year, the counselling service plans to begin organising group workshops named „You Compass on the Career Path“, focusing on self-knowledge, discovering career options, decision-making and career planning.

„Career counselling offers the opportunity to discover one's strengths and values, to identify interests, abilities and competences, helping to raise one's knowledge of oneself. It also helps to find your way around the labour market and apply for jobs, while respecting your unique nature. Career counselling is particularly useful for students at the time when they are deciding about their future - in continuing to study or entering the labour market.“ adds Dominika Vajdová from CU.
