At Comenius University, the activities will be managed and overseen professionally by the Department of Nuclear Chemistry at FNS CU, led by Professor Michal Galamboš. The two institutions plan to join forces not only in shaping a modern educational and research environment, but also in supporting the professional development of students and academic staff.

Joint laboratory and development of scientific activities

A key pillar of the partnership is the establishment of a joint research facility: a laboratory for isotope analysis using LIBS, or Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy. Under the agreement, joint research teams will be set up to prepare international projects and publish joint scientific outputs. The closer cooperation will also extend to the teaching process itself, particularly through mutual cooperation in supervising and reviewing final theses.

“Nuclear technologies have an irreplaceable role not only in energy, but also in medicine, environmental protection, and other strategic areas of society. I therefore consider it essential to systematically train a new generation of specialists capable of delivering innovative solutions and responding to the current needs of both scientific research and practice. Our aim is to create high-quality conditions for the education and professional development of students in nuclear chemistry, radioecology, and nuclear technologies. Cooperation with FNSPE CTU represents an important opportunity to support talented students and young scientists, while also strengthening the link between education and modern research,” said Professor Michal Galamboš.

The memorandum was signed in Prague during a visit by a Slovak delegation organised by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic. The visit to CTU also included a tour of the university’s training nuclear reactor, which is used for practical teaching and specialist training of students and experts in the nuclear field.
