The Nobel Prize Winner Klaus von Klitzing will Visit Slovakia

You are invited to a meeting with the Nobel Prize in Physics winner Klaus von Klitzing, which will take place on Monday 29 April 2019 at 4 pm in the Aula Magna at the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies at the Slovak University of Technology.
Klaus von Klitzing is a German physicist who is famous for his discovery of the integer quantum Hall effect, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1985. Students and the professional public will be able to listen to his lecture entitled “From the Nobel Prize to the New Kilogram”. The International System of Units forms the basis for all measurements. A long-term comparison of the kilogram prototype with other standards of weight suggests that this prototype is not stable in time, and so scientists have decided to define the units of the SI through basic constants of nature instead. The new system should be valid worldwide from 20 May 2019.
