Associate Professor Eduard Burda is Once Again Elected Dean of the Faculty of Law at Comenius University

On 10 October 2018, an election was held for the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Comenius University in Bratislava. Candidacies for this positon had been put forward by the current dean Associate Professor Eduard Burda and Professor Tomáš Gábriš.

Associate Professor Eduard Burda succeeded in being re-elected in the first round of the election, gaining 21 of the 27 votes from the present members of the Faculty of Law’s Academic Senate.

Associate Professor Burda completed his master’s-level studies in law at the faculty in 2004. After successfully passing his rigorous examination (JUDr.) in 2006, he completed his doctoral thesis (Ph.D.) at the faculty in criminal law in 2008. He habilitated as an Associate Professor in 2014 at Trnava University. He is the author of more than seventy academic studies and two monographs. He is also the head of an authorial collective offering expert commentary on the Criminal Law publication by the C. H. Beck publishing house.

Burda will assume the office of dean for his second term after being officially appointed to the position by the Comenius University rector following a submission by the Faculty of Law’s Academic Senate. His second term in office will commence on 1 February 2019 and will last until 31 January 2023.
