This year, Comenius University dispatched a 152-strong delegation to Paris, including representatives of ten faculties. At the beginning of November, they competed against university teams from different parts of the world at the World InterUniversity Championships (WIUC). The University’s women’s volleyball and handball teams took home silver while futsal players ended up bronze. Young talents from CU achieved several podium positions in athletics and tennis. Students also brought home precious metals in badminton, table tennis, cheerleading and swimming disciplines.

These achievements added up to the highest total point amount, winning Comenius University an overall first place in the tournament. This year's CU sports team followed up on great results from previous years - first place at WIUC 2018 in Barcelona, 2019 in Pula and 2021 in Rome, and silver in last year's championships in Barcelona.

On 9 November 2023, Rector Marek Števček and Vice-Rector for Education and Social Affairs Eva Viglašová received the athletes and members of the support team. The delegation brought their trophies and medals to the meeting. "With excitement we followed your successes at the tournament on social media, we kept our fingers crossed for you and we are very proud of you. I want to thank you for the exemplary way in which you represented the University," said the Rector of Comenius University Marek Števček and wished the athletes such continued success both in sport and in their personal lives.

The leader of the team, Tibor Balga from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport praised the dedication of all its members: "I want to thank them for representing the University in such great way, for their outstanding sports results, and for their commitment both on and off tracks and fields. It was very gratifying to see how the inter-faculty team came together and gave support to each other. Everyone contributed to the success: those who won medals, but also those who scored points, jointly taking the university to an overall first place. The footballers played the whole tournament without conceding a single goal, which is a very impressive outcome."
