The conference will include presentations by the head of the Institute of Molecular Biomedicine at Comenius University’s Faculty of Medicine, Associate Professor Peter Celec, and Dr Zuzana Kovaľová, a graduate of Comenius University’s Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, who received the Slovak Student Personality of the Year award in the category of Informatics and Mathematical and Physical Sciences

This conference on plasma medicine, a new and innovative area of science and research, will take place under the auspices of the International Society for Plasma Medicine (ISPM) and Comenius University’s Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics over the whole week from 4 to 9 September 2016. The main organizers of the conference from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics are Associate Professor Zdenko Machala and Associate Professor Karol Hensel.

Around 350 world-class experts from the fields of plasma physics, medicine, biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, agriculture, and the food industry will meet at the conference. For many attending, this conference will be their first time in Slovakia. The conference will include excursions which will allow conference participants to see the beautiful areas around Bratislava.

Plasma medicine is a new and quickly developing field which deals with the mechanisms of the interaction between living organisms and the plasma of electrical discharges as well as the application of plasma in medicine and biology. The aim of the conference is to create a multidisciplinary forum which brings together experts in plasma physics, medicine, biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, agriculture, and the food industry. The international scientific community working in plasma medicine has been growing very quickly in recent years; the 2016 conference will undoubtedly be one of the largest international scientific events held in Slovakia this year.
