FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT HAS BEEN RANKED AMONG THE MOST INFLUENTIAL BUSINESS SCHOOLS IN THE WORLD

Bratislava, December 1, 2025: The Faculty of Management, Comenius University Bratislava (FM CU) has...

The Eduniversal ranking evaluates international influence, reputation, quality of partnerships, and recognition among deans of leading business schools from more than 150 countries. In this year's edition, FM CU was promoted to the prestigious category of Top Business Schools with Significant International Influence, earning 4 out of 5 palms of excellence. "This is proof that even a Slovak faculty can set the pace in the European higher education league," says Dean Peter Štarchoň.
The faculty moved up from three to four palms thanks to its long-term building of international prestige, development of partner networks in Europe, Asia, USA, and Oceania, dynamic mobility of students and teachers, and excellent performance in scientific research.
"Faculty of Management strengthens the international prestige of the entire university with its progress in the Eduniversal ranking. This success reflects our ability to build globally competitive education and motivates faculties to further develop excellence in teaching, research, and international partnerships," added Rector of Comenius University Bratislava Marek Števček.
One of the faculty's most prestigious European collaborations is a new double degree program with the University of Bordeaux, one of France's leading research institutions. The collaboration with FM CU goes beyond student mobility: it integrates academic content, promotes teacher exchanges, and prepares graduates for career opportunities in both countries.
The unique model of teaching in three world languages—English, German, and French—also plays a significant role in the evaluation. Students at FM CU not only learn languages but also develop professional management and legal terminology and work directly on projects with international companies. "Our strategy is simple: students experience the world while they study, and the world notices us," said Lucia Vilčeková, Vice-Dean for International Relations.
Every year, the faculty welcomes more than 200 foreign students, who significantly expand the cultural and linguistic diversity of the environment. FM CU students, in turn, go on study trips to Europe, USA, Asia, and Oceania, gaining experience that is normally provided by Western institutions.
Today, the English program at FM CU offers students from around the world the opportunity to obtain a quality education in the field of management in English language. Currently, the faculty has students from more than 30 countries, including India, Nigeria, USA, Saudi Arabia, and Latin America, which allows them to develop global managerial thinking and establish international contacts during their studies.

Special Nuclear Seminar - prof. A.J.T. Jull (1.12.2025)

Monday 1.12.2025 at 14:00, Lecture rook F1/364

prof. A.J.T. Jull (University of Arizona, Tucson, USA and visiting professor at the Institute for Nuclear Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Debrecen, Hungary):
Radiocarbon in tree rings - recent discoveries of past large solar flares
Abstract:
Extreme solar energetic particle events, known as Miyake events, are rare phenomena observed in short radiocarbon variations in tree rings during the BCE. We shall present results of recent measurements in an arctic tree (664–663 BCE). Using a box carbon cycle model and Bayesian statistics, we calculated the radiocarbon production rate during the event that is 3.2–4.8 times higher than the average solar modulation, and comparable to the 774–775 CE Miyake solar-proton event. We caution about using the event’s pronounced signature for precise single- year-dating.

Doctoral colloquium - Radovan Gregor (1.12.2025)

Monday 1.12.2025 at 13:10 hod., Lecture room I 9

Radovan Gregor:
Mirroring mechanisms for trustworthy human-robot interaction
Abstract:
The discovery of a group of neurons in the premotor cortex of macaque monkeys that became active both when the monkeys performed certain actions and when they observed another individual performing the same actions proposed the existence of a neural system that "mirrors" the actions of others, giving rise to a name Mirror Neuron System (Rizzolatti G., 1992). This discovery has had a major impact on our understanding of the neural basis of social cognition and has been the subject of numerous studies.
In this talk we will first focus on mirroring-based prediction of motor intentions using an Echo State Network in a simulated robotic environment. Predicting motor intentions is crucial for understanding the observed behavior. We approach this task aiming at predicting future states, and ultimately, the target object, of a moving robotic arm based on mirroring. Then we will talk about a Self-Organizing Map model trained on sliding windows of joint positions, aperture, and palm orientation from our robot hand logs, using grasp labels (Power / Precision / Side). The SOM learned a 2D topographic map where different regions specialize for different grasp types. At test time, we classify an unknown trajectory segment by finding its best-matching unit on the map and reading out the dominant grasp type from the learned label distribution.

Seminar of Graph Theory - Makuochukwu Felix Oguagbaka (27.11.2025)

Thursday 27.11.2025 at 9:50, Lecture room M 213

Makuochukwu Felix Oguagbaka:
Perfect versus imperfect matching covers of cubic graphs
Abstract:
Given a bridgeless cubic graph G, the four perfect matching defect of G, denoted by dPM(G), is the minimum number of edges of G left uncovered over all sets of four perfect matchings. The defect of a matching is the number of vertices it leaves uncovered divided by two. The four matching cover defect of G, denoted by dM(G), is the minimal sum of defects of matchings over all matching covers of G containing four matchings.
We show that G always has a matching cover containing two perfect and two non-perfect matchings, and that G has a matching cover containing three perfect matchings and one non-perfect matching if and only if the Fan–Raspaud conjecture holds for G. We establish that dM(G) ≤ dPM(G). We show that for each integer k, there exists a nontrivial snark G with dM(G) = dPM(G) = k; that is, there are nontrivial snarks that are far from being coverable by four perfect matchings. Furthermore, we present another family of nontrivial snarks, where for each integer k there exists a nontrivial snark G with 2dM(G) ≤ dPM(G) = 2k. We conclude this talk with a discussion of open problems.
This is a joint work with Robert Lukoťka.
