THE COMENIUS UNIVERSITY RECTOR WELCOMES THE ITALIAN AMBASSADOR

On 20 March 2017, the Comenius University Rector, Professor Karol Mičieta, and the Comenius University Vice-Rector for International Relations, Professor Daniela Ostatníková, welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Slovakia, Gabriele Meucci, who had presented his credentials to the President of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Kiska, on 18 January 2017.

Comenius University Rector, Professor Karol Mičieta, and Comenius University Vice-Rector, Professor Daniela Ostatníková, introduced the university to the ambassador and highlighted the Italian Studies programme at the Department of Romance Studies at Comenius University’s Faculty of Arts, the Slovak language programme at the Lectorate of Slovak Language and Culture at the University of Bologna, and Comenius University’s cooperation with that university as well as the University of Milan and other Italian partner institutions. They also discussed the exchanges of students, researchers, and teachers within the Erasmus+ programme and cooperation on other projects, including the new Comenius University Science Park.

Ambassador Gabriele Meucci, who previously worked at Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and who specialized in matters concerning the European Union, showed an interest in participating in the lecture programme of ambassadors accredited to Slovakia which is run by the Diplomatic Academy/Institute of International Relations at Comenius University’s Faculty of Law.
