Two Comenius University Experts are Nominated for the Slovak Woman of the Year Award

Two successful Comenius University (CU) ladies are nominated in the 2019 readers' poll Slovak Woman of the Year: Associate Professor Mária Follrichová of the Faculty of Arts at CU and Associate Professor Martina Dubovcová of the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine at CU. All 28 nominees were unveiled yesterday, on 28 January 2019 in Bratislava.

Associate Professor Mária Follrichová was nominated in the category of Media and Communication. She is a university lecturer at the Department of Journalism at the Comenius University's Faculty of Arts. At the university, she teaches journalism genres, domestic, investigative, national and patriotic journalism and foundations of the state and law. Since 1975 she has educated dozens of well-known Slovak journalists, authored two university textbooks, published dozens of scientific studies and scholarly articles, and translated hundreds of texts.

Associate Professor Martina Dubovcová, who was nominated is the category of Health Care, is the leading nurse at the Clinic of Psychiatry of the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine at CU and at the Martin University Hospital. She is the chairwoman of the Psychiatric Nurses Section of the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives and the recipient of the 2018 White Heart Award in the category of Nurse Manager. She is an active member of the civic association Matka a dieťa Turca (Mother and Child of Turiec) and engages in the HORATIO European Psychiatric Nurses Association. She is an active lecturer and publisher in the psychiatric nursing field.

The eleventh annual readers’ poll Slovak Woman of the Year will recognize the nominees in nine categories: Business and Management, Art and Culture, Media and Communication, Science and Research, Education, Support of Young Talent, Health Care, Sport, and Charity. In addition, the nomination committee will present the Absolute Slovak Woman of the Year as well as the Exceptional Award for Lifelong Achievement for Slovakia.

The winners will be decided by the readers of Slovenka magazine alongside the audience of RTVS in the form of SMS voting, coupons from the weekly magazine, or online voting. Voting will run through to 3 May 2019 and the gala event will take place on 5 May 2019 at the historical building of the Slovak National Theatre and will be broadcast live via RTVS.
