THE NEW DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF ARTS IS PROFESSOR MARIÁN ZOUHAR
On 6 May 2019 an election for the dean of the Faculty of Arts was held. The only candidate, Marián Zouhar, was recommended as the person to assume this role.
Professor Marián Zouhar was elected to be dean by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Arts, receiving 25 of the 26 votes of the senators who were present. He was the only candidate standing in this election. Comenius University rector Marek Števček appointed Marián Zouhar to the position of dean with effect from 7 May 2019.
Professor Marián Zouhar is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University. He completed his doctoral studies at the Institute of Philosophy at the Slovak Academy of Sciences from 1996 to 2000 in the field of systematic philosophy. He became an Associate Professor of Philosophy in 2007 and was appointed Professor in the same field in 2012. Since 1996 he has worked at the Department of Logic and the Methodology of Sciences at the Faculty of Arts. In terms of research and teaching, he specializes in analytical philosophy and the philosophy of language and logic. He has published several monographs in these areas and regularly publishes in foreign and domestic scholarly journals. He has participated in several VEGA and SRDA projects and is a member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Arts at the Catholic University in Ružomberok. Since 1 July 2017, he has been the vice-dean for research and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Arts.
