SASPRO 2 is a joint project of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Slovak University of Technology and Comenius University. Its aim is to strengthen the scientific organisations of these institutions with researchers from top foreign institutes, to improve cooperation between scientific and application sectors, to support multidisciplinary approaches to project solutions.

"I am very pleased that we are able to launch another challenge of this successful programme, and I very much hope that a large number of applicants will apply again so that we can select only the best from the offered projects. This is certainly guaranteed by a panel of experts who evaluate these projects, so I expect that both the SAS and the Comenius University and the Slovak University of Technology will benefit from this project,” said Pavol Šajgalík, President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

"The condition for achieving the top level of Slovak science is also the participation of high-quality scientists from abroad. That is why I consider this successful programme to be very important and I am glad that it continues,” stated the entrusted rector of STU, Oliver Moravčík.

"The problem of the brain drain to abroad is a problem that Slovakia has been struggling with for a long time. This project is a chance to change that. And it is also a chance to connect our research with research from abroad and, last but not least, to connect scientists between our institutions with each other,” says the rector of Comenius University in Bratislava, Marek Števček.

Together, the three leading science and research institutions offer 40 vacancies covering various research areas at 70 potential host organisations. Each of the universities will accept 10 scientists for its workplaces and the remaining 20 will work at the institutes of the SAS.

Researchers of all nationalities who hold a PhD degree can apply for the SASPRO 2 programme. They can apply for a working stay from 12 to 36 months, while the field of science within which they can apply is not limited. Following the selection process of the second call, the first researchers should start working at the host institutions from February 2022.

The SASPRO 2 programme is implemented within the EU Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Skłodowska COFUND programme for research and innovation. More information, including frequently asked questions, can be found at: https://saspro2.sav.sk/.
