Due to the pandemic, the Garden opened its gates later than normally this year, on Monday, 19 April. As part of winter maintenance new plants were added to tropical greenhouses in both the perennials section and in rock gardens. Since the previous season the Garden also added three new varieties of Japanese cherry trees.

Visitors to CU’s Botanical Garden will have to respect restrictions and observe strict hygiene rules. A face-mask is obligatory on the premises and a distance of at least two meters must be maintained from other visitors. The face-mask can be removed in more remote parts of the gardens if no other people are present in a radius of 20m/65ft. Professional guides will not be available in the garden yet.

Persons exhibiting symptoms of respiratory diseases are prohibited from entering the premises and a negative COVID-19 test must be presented on entry.

Nevertheless, the Botanical Garden of Comenius University is making preparations for Cultural Summer 2021, planning to hold a number of chamber concerts. The first of these should take place on 26 June at 10:00 a.m. Admission will be free. Pending the development of the pandemic situation, the Garden plans to organise an exhibition ‘Fruits of Autumn’ in September.

Visitors and nature enthusiasts can visit the Garden daily between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Last entry is at 5:30 p.m. Admission fee is € 3 for adults and € 1.5 for children, pupils and retirees.
