"We need to place reasonably high demands on our young university graduates, if we are to get the best out of them. You, the bearers of the highest academic qualification, can make sure that your students’ theses meet the established criteria of quality and do not become an easy path to a degree," said the head of state. Similarly demanding criteria should be placed on other exam works, be it during rigorous, dissertation or habilitation exams.
We all want, said the President, to see more of our students staying in Slovakia. "However, convincing them to stay home is not just a matter of the quality of our education system. Young people abroad tell me that the things which keep them from returning include intolerance, disrespect towards education, an excessive influence of misinformation and the general sentiment in our society," she said.
