Grant scheme for student associations
Bratislava, 30 September, 2021: This year, Comenius University will distribute €25,000 to student associations, funding projects which enhance the community aspect of student life. The new grant scheme is the result of a series of meetings between Rector Marek Števček and the representatives of student associations and initiatives operating at the thirteen faculties of Comenius University.
"Student associations and activities play an integral role at the university. They serve as incubators of great ideas, help students build a network of professional contacts, and produce experiences which can later be transformed by active students into professional growth," said Rector Števček. "There are several associations at our university that do a great job and help enrich young people's academic life beyond and above the university curriculum. However, many exceptional ideas are hampered by a lack of funding. I am therefore pleased to keep my promise and announce a university-wide grant scheme dedicated specifically to student associations and initiatives."
The objective of the grant scheme is to support sports and cultural activities, publication of student magazines and information portals, organization of student conferences, seminars, discussion clubs and workshops, and provide funding to projects like community gardens and recreation areas. The university is open to any other good ideas which can contribute towards the university's mission.
The grant scheme is intended to be as accessible as possible - just send a simple application to the Rector's Office by 31 October 2021. Both formal associations which are legal entities, as well as unincorporated initiatives are eligible for support. For more information, please contact the Rector's Office (kr@uniba.sk). The projects will be evaluated by a commission which also includes students from the Academic Senate of Comenius University. The university will publish the selected projects in November 2021.
Applications can be submitted as of today.
