Tandem Connects Bratislava and Regensburg
Now in its seventh year, the Tandem student exchange program continues to strengthen ties between Comenius University in Bratislava and the University of Regensburg. This year, we welcomed eight Tandem pairs—each made up of one student from Comenius University and one from Regensburg—to take part in this unique academic and cultural experience.
Organized by Studia Academica Slovaca in collaboration with the Department of International Relations at the Rectorate of Comenius University, the Tandem program encourages cross-cultural cooperation through research and real-world engagement.
Each pair works together on a topic of their choice related to Germany/Regensburg and Slovakia/Bratislava. Topics range from education, science, and history to culture, sports, religion, and social issues. Students support one another in their research and communicate in either German or English, with a strong focus on direct interaction with people and local communities.
The program includes a week-long stay in Bratislava for students from Regensburg, followed by a return visit to Regensburg by Comenius students. Both visits are enriched with a diverse cultural program, offering participants the chance to experience the host country beyond the classroom.
This year’s Tandem program officially launched in the historic Scientific Council Meeting Room of the Faculty of Arts at Comenius University. Opening remarks were delivered by program coordinator Jana Pekarovičová, Vice-Dean for Admissions and Public Relations Vladimír Zvara, and Ivana Dzúriková from the Department of International Relations of the Comenius University. The event was moderated by Zuzana Omar Hargašová, the program’s coordinator.
The second part of this year’s exchange will take place in Regensburg in May.
