On this exceptional occasion, CU Rector Marek Števček expressed his conviction to persevere in the development of critical thinking. "In my opinion, science is first and foremost a conviction. A conviction that it makes sense to explore how and why things work, that it makes sense to examine the world so that we may make it a better place. [...] If science is a certain form of faith, let us believe that the supracritical part of the world has not definitively gone mad, that we will not find the truth with a few clicks on social media governed by the algorithms of our own bubbles, and that artificial intelligence will simply not find the answers for us, but only our own," he stated in his address.

The Rector's Awards for the best dissertation thesis in 2025 were conferred upon:

  • In the Field of Social Sciences: Mgr. Jana Zigo, PhD., LL.M. from the CU Faculty of Law, for the thesis Alternative Dispute Resolution of Domain Name and Its Possibility of Application to Copyright Disputes in the Online Environment.

  • In the Field of Humanities: Mgr. Dalibor Makovník, PhD. from the CU Faculty of Arts, for the thesis Non-Causal Explanation in Natural Sciences.

  • In the Field of Medical Sciences: MUDr. Katarína Tobiášová, PhD. from the CU Jessenius Faculty of Medicine, for the thesis Possibilities of Identifying Predictive Molecular-Pathological Biomarkers of Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma.
