MUTUAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT

ON MARCH 8, 2022, THE DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF LAW CU (HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS "PRAF UK"), DOC....

On March 28, 2022, the heads of institutions, the Dean of PraF UK, doc. JUDr. Eduard Burda, PhD., and the General Director of the Slovak Land Fund, Mgr. Ján Marosz met at the premises of the Faculty of Law to sign the Agreement on Mutual Cooperation between Praf UK and SPF (hereinafter referred to as the "Agreement").
The Dean of the Faculty of Law CU and the General Director of SPF have expressed an interest in active cooperation in the areas of professional intersection and link the practical experience of the SPF employees as experts in its field of competence with theoretical knowledge from academia. The Dean and the General Director agreed that it is necessary, appropriate and for the benefit of both institutions to seek answers to the practical questions and issues arising in the performance of the activities of the SPF staff, including the engagement of an independent academic community. Such cooperation may assist SPF to solve their current problems and for academics from Praf UK, it may represent a practical motivation for writing an academic study, analysis, work, and articles in a generalized form. At the same time, both representatives confirmed the common interest and willingness to develop the orientation on values, professional ethics and education of students of the Faculty of Law, as well as the SPF employees through cooperation. Mr Burda and Mr Marosz are aware of the obligation of higher education institutions to create a creative, dynamic and stimulating study environment open to cooperation and partnership with the general public and the obligation to lead the students to creative, critical and independent thinking.
The above objectives of the Agreement can be fulfilled, inter alia, by engagement of the SPF employees in the pedagogical process at Praf UK, as participants - active or passive within the respective sections of international conferences organized by Praf UK, as well as training and consultations in practical processing of final thesis of Praf UK students. Thanks to a broad academic community consisting of members of 11 departments and members of 6 institutes of Praf UK, the Faculty of Law can offer SPF a range of training and courses that meet the needs of SPF, as well as provide assistance in resolving complex legal issues through legal analysis. Another advantage and benefit for students under the Agreement represent the opportunity to participate in internships at SPF, during which students will gain practical skills and knowledge, will be able to participate in the implementation of new processes, such as the SPF call centres, and will have the opportunity to see and experience the performance of the SPF activities.
In addition, SPF and PraF UK have agreed to cooperate on a variety of scientific projects and in the solution of grant projects in the field of science, research and education in the scope of competence of the parties to the Agreement.

It is a mutually beneficial relationship, which entails great potential for both parties to the Agreement.

Abstract:
A bi-coset graph $\Gamma_{(G;H,K)} $ is a bipartite graph with the two vertex sets consisting of the cosets of subgroups $H, K$ of a group $G$, and the adjacency determined by non-empty intersection. Bi-coset graphs constitute a classical object of algebraic graph theory and have been studied in various contexts.
In this talk, bi-coset graphs are used in connection with the problem of finding a smallest biregular graph of girth $g$ with the vertices of degrees $m,n$.
A few bipartite biregular bi-coset cages will be presented, as well as an infinite family of small bipartite biregular graphs will be constructed.
This work is joint with: R. Jajcay, P. Jánoš, J. Širáň, Y. Wang
Thanks to (temporary?) loosening of restrictions regarding the COVID epidemy, we intend to conduct the seminar meetings this semester `in-person'. Hence, all of you who might choose to attend in person are welcome. Those of you who are not able to attend in person or who are still uncertain about the safety of attending in person are welcome to attend via MS Teams. In either case, we hope to see as many of you as possible (either in person or virtually) at our Friday gatherings.

Seminar of Graph Theory - Róbert Jajcay (31.3.2022)

Thursday 31.3.2022 at 9:50, Lecture room M/213

Róbert Jajcay:
Using bi-coset graphs to construct small regular and biregular graphs

Abstract:
A bi-coset graph is a bipartite graph with its two partite sets consisting of the cosets of two subgroups of a given group G, and the adjacency determined by non-empty intersection. Bi-coset graphs constitute a classical object of algebraic graph theory and have been studied in various contexts (often with regard to their symmetries). )
In our talk, bi-coset graphs are revisited with the aim of using them in connection with the Cage Problem - the problem of finding a smallest k-regular graph of girth g - and its generalization - the problem of finding a smallest biregular graph of girth g with the vertices of degrees m,n. The girth of a bi-coset graph is shown to be related to the existence of special alternating sequences of elements from H and K, and k-regular bi-coset graphs of arbitrary large girths are shown to exist for all k >= 2. Bi-coset graphs are shown to be particularly suitable for constructions of bipartite biregular graphs which are biregular graphs in which each of the two sets making the graph bipartite consists of vertices of the same degree.
A few bipartite biregular bi-coset graphs constructed by this method can be shown to be of the smallest order among all bipartite biregular graphs with the same parameters. Interestingly, one of such constructions starts from prime pairs of the form p, 6p+1.
The results discussed in this talk come from a joint paper with S. Gyurki, J. Siran and Y. Wang. This is the first of a series of two talks on the topic, with the second talk delivered by S. Gyurki.

The children of refugees from Ukraine who came to Slovakia can no longer attend their schools because most schools in Ukraine either switched to distance learning or stopped operating entirely until further notice. Now they have an opportunity to follow a free online course in mathematics designed by Yuliia Trotska. Students from Ukraine can enrol and spend their time productively.
“Many can’t go to schools and it’s difficult for everyone because there are no study programmes, but we have to learn and adapt. I want to help the children in this difficult time," says Yuliia. At the moment she offers two courses. One is for elementary school pupils in Grades 7 to 9 and the other one is for high school students. Lessons take place online on Zoom.
