The Biodesign course from May 12 to 16 at Uppsala University

I participated in the Biodesign course from May 12 to 16 at Uppsala University, the oldest university in Scandinavia. It was an amazing opportunity to meet students from various European universities and exchange experiences with them.
The course was very beneficial and enriching, I learned many new things and gained inspiration for future work. Uppsala is a beautiful city, and the university provides excellent conditions for study and research. I am very grateful for this opportunity and look forward to similar experiences in the future.
1: Work atmosphere on the course
2: Mgr.
Norwegian Constitution Day Celebrated by Students in Slovakia

May 17th marks a significant day for Norwegians, as they celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day,...

In Martin, the day holds a special place for the Norwegian students studying at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine at Comenius University, which is home to the largest community of Norwegians in the country.
Norwegian Constitution Day is the most significant holiday in Norway, even surpassing Christmas in its importance. Norwegians honor this day with vibrant celebrations, donning traditional costumes and waving flags, which are also a central part of the decor. The festivities begin early with ceremonial breakfasts and picnics where everyone gathers to enjoy and celebrate together.
"I really admire how our Norwegian students commemorate this day. It's evident that this is a people’s holiday; there are no political speeches or military parades, but rather it's all about the people, for the children, to remember their statehood and nationality. There is always a wonderful atmosphere that I love sharing with them," said Prof. Andrea Čalkovská, Dean of the faculty, during the celebrations.
Currently, approximately 300 Norwegian students are enrolled at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine. Their presence not only enriches the faculty but also adds a unique character to the city itself. "We are delighted that the medical students from Norway have established themselves in our city and choose to celebrate their significant holidays such as Constitution Day here, showing that they feel comfortable and wish to commemorate their national events even while abroad," added Assoc. Prof. Martin Janík, PhD., Vice-Dean of JFMED CU responsible for educational activities in the general medicine program taught in English and international relations.

We know that students from their Erasmus mobility - study, internships, BIPs abroad, bring beautiful experiences and amazing photos. We asked them to choose one that is precious, special for them or that best describes their stay or the idea of Erasmus.
Expectations were met with colourful, breath-taking shots of natural scenery, sunsets, mountain peaks, aurora borealis and snow plains
We were much more surprised and touched by the accompanying texts to the photos, expressing the importance of new friendships, of belonging between young people of different nationalities, the desire to explore the world and enjoy life together. This exhibition is a big contrast to the previous one “Unissued diplomas ". Among the nicest comments on the photos are:
- “The photo is special to me because there are people in it who have made another country my home.”
- “The photo was taken on the very first day of my mobility, which I spent with other Erasmus students at the observation tower. It beautifully captures how many different cultures can form friendships. It was the beginning of something beautiful.”
- “Last day in Rome, everyone cried, we miss Rome!”
- “In this procession through Berlin, we were showing how important it is equality, difference and also the fact that we are the Erasmus generation. Unbelievable experience full of joy, amazing fun.”
- “Erasmus has brought me awesome new experiences and friendships.”
- “Erasmus was one of the most beautiful and eye -opening experiences in my life, which I will surely draw from for the rest of my life.”

The refrain of the song sung at the STARMUS ceremony fits right in:
“That time will come one day you'll see
When we can all be friends”

Someone only needs to look at a collection of photographs to compose music, which is no small thing.
We would be delighted if these images would inspire you to open your windows/doors and to step out into a world that you and your new friends can explore together.

Invitation
Dear colleagues, dear students,

We would like to inform you about the exhibition "Through Foreign Lens: A Semester Abroad" - which is currently installed at FM UK on the 4th floor in the relaxation area, the exhibition has brightened up with its colors and is a great contrast to the previous one.
We asked students to send us their top Erasmus mobility shot, to choose just one photo that is precious, beautiful or best describes their stay or the idea of Erasmus.
Come, be inspired and travel, or send us your own shot with a comment, we plan to expand this exhibition.

Doctoral colloquium - Adams Zekeri (20.5.2024)

Monday 20.5.2024 at 13:10, Lecture room I/9

Adams Zekeri:
Reasoning in higher order description logics towards meta modelling ontology design patterns
Abstract:
Integrating higher-order description logic (DLs) with meta-modeling techniques has emerged as a promising approach for enhancing the design and development of ontology-based systems. By leveraging the expressive power of higher-order logic, practitioners can capture complex relationships and dependencies within ontological models, enabling more precise and comprehensive representations of domain knowledge. Furthermore, the use of meta-modeling techniques, including conceptual-oriented and description logic approaches, facilitates the systematic organization and reuse of ontology design patterns across different domains and applications. In this presentation, we explore the conceptual meta-modeling ontology design patterns using the PURO language in relation to MLT. Through the utilization of the PURO Modeler tool, we demonstrate the practical significance of this language, employing segments from the well-known knowledge graph, Wikidata, as illustrative examples. Additionally, we delve into the current state-of-the-art in description logic (DLs) meta-modeling ontology design patterns and discuss future directions in this design pattern space.

Seminar of Department of Theoretical Physics - Dragan Prekrat (22.5.2024)

Friday 22.5.2024 at 14:00, Lecture room F1/125

Dr. Dragan Prekrat (University of Belgrade):
On stripe phase in matrix models and renormalizability of noncommutative theories
Abstract:
In this talk we will discuss the relationship between renormalizability and extent of the striped phase in phase diagrams of noncommutative theories. As an example, we will consider the matrix version of the Grosse-Wulkenhaar model on the truncated Heisenberg space. We will present some recent results on the structure of its phase diagram and see how these results might help to formulate a renormalizable gauge model on noncommutative space.
