Comenius University one of the recipients of the Technology Transfer Award

Comenius University, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and Masaryk University in Brno...

In the Technology Transfer Initiatives category the award was given to the cooperation of the Technology Transfer Centre of the Comenius University Science Park in Bratislava, the Technology Transfer Centre of the Technology and Innovation Park of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and the Technology Transfer Centre at the Masaryk University in Brno. This cooperation resulted in a successful transfer of industrial property rights and patent rights to a "Method for non-invasive testing of vitro fertilization success rate". This marks the first time that industrial property rights were transferred by a university in Slovakia. The award was received on behalf of the project team by Jozef Masarik, Vice-rector of Comenius University for Science, Lenka Levarská from the Science Park of Comenius University, Laura Bachňáková Rózenfeldová from UPJŠ, and Jana Daňková and Eva Janouškovcová from Masaryk University.
A team from the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice received an award in the Innovation category. Their project included an artificial lung ventilator. Nikola Čajová Kantová from the University of Žilina won the Innovator category for her research of fuel analysis and ways of reducing emissions of solid pollutants.
In its fourth year the COINTT 2023 conference provided a forum for discussion and exchange of information between the scientific and business communities. This year’s focus was on gaps in innovation and technology transfer in Slovakia. These are important topics that merit a discussion to enhance technology transfer opportunities between academia and business practice in Slovakia. The event was organised by the Technology Transfer Centre of the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information which is operated by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.

Seminar of Department of Theoretical Physics - Benedek Bukor (7.11.2023)

Tuesday 7.11.2023 at 14:00, Lecture room F2/125

Benedek Bukor:
What about quarkonia in the (non)commutative space?
Abstrakt:
Quarkonium bound states are especially promising candidates to test the probable quantum structure of space-time, since they represent a system with reasonably small characteristic distance. The quantum mechanical interaction between the quarks is heuristically described by the Cornell potential. Firstly, we investigate this system in the 3-dimensional smooth space. Thereafter, we insert it into a rotationally invariant space which is composed of concentric fuzzy spheres of increasing radius, called the fuzzy onion, in order to extract some consequences of the non-trivial structure on the quarks' properties.

Doctoral colloquium - Dana Škorvánková (30.10.2023)

Monday 30.10.2023 at 13:10, Lecture room I/9

Dana Škorvánková:
Towards Automatic Human Measurements and Pose Extraction
Abstract:
The estimation of human body pose and its measurements is an emerging problem that drives attention in many research areas. An automatic and accurate approach to address the problem is crucial in many fields of computer vision-oriented industry. Our research targets multiple human body analysis-related tasks, including pose estimation, pose tracking, and anthropometric body measurements estimation. Similarly to other research fields, deep learning methods proved to outperform analytical strategies. We also examine various types of visual input data, including three-dimensional point clouds. Since obtaining a large-scale database of real annotated training data is time-consuming and non-effective, we propose to substitute or augment the training process with synthetically generated human body data. We will report main challenges within each of the stated tasks, along with our proposed approaches to address them, and include the already published parts of our research.

Algebraic Graph Theory Seminar - Dominika Mihálová (27.10.2023)

Friday 27.10.2022 at 13:00, Lecture room M/VIII (online too)

Dominika Mihálová:
Constructions of Hypergraphical Regular Representations via $k$-uniform Hypergraphs of Certain Groups of Order Greater than $32$
Termín: 27.10.2023, 13:00 hod., M VIII a

Abstrakt:
We explores the problem of hypergraphical regular representation of finite group $G$ via $k$-uniform hypergraph. A hypergraphical regular representation preserves the group's structure within the hypergraph. We build upon previous research and investigates hypergraphical regular representations of certain groups of orders greater than $32$. We present an algorithm based on methods by Mihálová and Erskine and Tuite. The algorithm is implemented in the computational system \emph{GAP} to find hypergraphical regular representations for certain groups. The results include a table with groups for which hypergraphical regular representations via $k$-uniform hypergraphs were obtained.
Those of you who are not able to attend in person or who are still uncertain about the safety of attending in person are welcome to attend via
.
The Mentorship Program in Midwifery Celebrates Its First Graduates

In an innovative leap for medical education in Slovakia, the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine at...

This distinction makes it the nation's sole faculty offering systematic education in this specialized field. The final assessments for the pioneering participants took place on October 18 at the Institute of Midwifery of the faculty.
According to the program's professional guarantor, Associate Professor Simona Kelčíková, PhD., the curriculum is meticulously designed to nurture and expand the pedagogical skills of midwives. The ultimate goal is to equip them with the educational proficiency necessary for guiding students of midwifery through their practical training.
"Mentors lead midwifery students during the hands-on segment of their studies directly within clinical settings. Having students mentored by a professional midwife who has undergone specific training in mentorship could prove more effective compared to traditional practical instruction methods," stated Associate Professor Kelčíková. She emphasizes that this advanced preparation often translates into more objective student evaluations, improved coordination of real-world clinical instruction, and seamless student integration into the interdisciplinary teams of the gynecological-obstetrical clinical departments.
The continuous education program for mentors in midwifery stands as a testament to the close collaboration between the Institute of Midwifery at Jessenius Faculty of Medicine and the Gynecological-Obstetrical Clinic of the University Hospital Martin.
