4 PILLARS - TELFER SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT within CANADIAN - SLOVAK INTER-UNIVERSITY COOPERATION

Healthier - Happier - Greener - Wealthier

The meetings continued at the Department of Marketing, with assoc. prof. Colin Baril, MBA, A-CSM, Director of Alumni Engagement and Community Partnerships.
Right at the beginning, he introduced us to 2 directions of activities, on the one hand, how they support and sponsor different communities, and on the other hand, the support of the faculty by her graduates.
He was interested in the topic of the Smart Life/Smart City Summit, which I introduced to him in more detailed way, also because it corresponds to their 4 pillars.
However, they pay a significant attention to building family businesses, but also to mining, which is a widespread industry in Canada

Subsequently, Mr. Taha Zarrug introduced us to the IT services they provide as a team for the entire university, including the current tasks they are working on

Negotiations with the Vice-dean for research, Dr. Silvia Bonaccio, where we exchange our experience concerning to our similiar vice-dean agenda will follow soon. Her focus areas are pretty similiar to mine, like diversity and inclusion as well as human resources. Health and happiness are her pillars.

So far, it is also worth mentioning the fact that the faculty also employs people with various disabilities, which contribute to a supportive and inclusive working atmosphere, from which everyone benefits.

In conclusion, I would like to mention the main principles of which they are evidently particularly proud:

Pride

Respect

Integrity

Sustainability

Thanks to our colleagues from the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa for the fruitful negotiations and their time they have spent with us and at the same time for inspiring us by a new, or a different look at common topic.

MORE THAN 250 APPLICANTS FOR STUDY AT THE FACULTY OPEN DAY

FURTHER OPEN DAY OF FLAW CU SHOWED THE HIGH INTEREST IN STUDYING AT OUR FACULTY.

On 24 November 2023, the faculty held another open day of FLAW CU in its premises.
We have prepared an exhibition of objects used in criminal activities, a model lawsuit in the field of human rights and a lecture on artificial (non-)intelligence for lawyers for those interested in studying at our faculty.
High school students could also meet representatives of all departments and institutes, and thus they could get to know what subjects they can expect and how the teaching is conducted.
They also had a possibility to meet and talk directly with students from the student part of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Law and the European Law Students' Association (ELSA) Bratislava.
During the meeting with the management of the Faculty of Law, Vice-Dean Blažo addressed those interested in studying and presented the possibility of studying at our faculty. Vice-Dean Trellová presented the possibility of studying abroad within the ERASMUS+ programme and Dr. Havelková talked about clinical education and the internship programme.
At the very end we also drew the winners of the faculty merch.

We would like to thank all those interested in studying at our faculty for attending our open day. It was amazing to witness so many curious faces that are not scared to step outside of the ordinary and learn about the field of law. You really started us up with your enthusiasm and energy, and you created a fantastic atmosphere. We hope you left with a great amount of knowledge, inspiration, and positive energy and that you have discovered that law is not just about reading paragraphs, but that it can also be a world full of challenges, stories, and opportunities.

Bratislava, 24 November 2023: On 23 November, ten partner universities of the ENLIGHT alliance...

ENLIGHT is committed to implementing an ‘open by default’ approach to online resources in its teaching, research, outreach and engagement activities, for the benefit of science and society.
As an enabler of quality and impact, Open Science plays a key role in the ENLIGHT universities’ higher education transformation agendas. It is a powerful driver for transparency, accountability and reusability of the results of science, and increases collaboration.
"We endorse the principles of Open Science. We are committed to making sure that science serves the entire society and that it is available to all researchers, but also people who are not professional researchers. I am pleased that Comenius University is embarking on this journey together with other partner universities in the ENLIGHT alliance," said Marek Števček, Rector of Comenius University.
The main elements of the joint statement of rectors include a broad promotion of Open Science through training and sharing of good practices, importance given to FAIR data principles, unrestricted Open Access to publications, support of Open Education materials and Responsible Research Assessment.
The ENLIGHT alliance brings together ten European universities, and Comenius University is one of them. Its goal is to expand study opportunities, share know-how, foster networking, internationalise and connect research, science and education. After three years of operation, the Alliance received 14.4 million euros in funding from the European Commission for the next four years. Some of the money will be allocated to initiatives from within the academic community, with an emphasis on research activities. In addition to Comenius University, the alliance includes the University of Uppsala in Sweden, University of Ghent in Belgium, University of Bordeaux in France, University of the Basque Country in Spain, University of Galway in Ireland, University of Göttingen in Germany, University of Groningen in the Netherlands, University of Tartu in Estonia, the University of Bern in Switzerland.

Doctoral colloquium - Dominika Mihálová (27.11.2023)

Monday 27.11.2023 at 13:10, Lecture room I/9

Dominika Mihálová:
Constructions of Hypergraphical Regular Representations
Abstract:
Our research is inspired by the question: Can an abstract algebraic structure, like a group, be faithfully represented by a graph? This question has been studied extensively. We extend this to a more general construction - hypergraph. In our previous research, we characterized all groups of orders less than 33 which admit hypergraphical regular representation via k-uniform hypergraph. Our latest research is focused on the hypergraphical regular representation of groups with orders greater than 32, where we combined our previous method with the method of Erskine and Tuite.

Richard Ančic, a fifth-year general medicine student, was lauded for his active involvement in promoting sexual and reproductive health. His initiatives include conducting workshops on current health topics and developing standards for sexual education for the Slovak Association of Medical Students. As the national coordinator for sexual and reproductive health and rights, including HIV and AIDS, Ančic has significantly contributed to sexual education for marginalized communities in eastern Slovakia and organized, for the first time in Slovakia, internships focusing on sexual and reproductive health and rights for students from foreign medical faculties.
Pavol Vencel, a sixth-year general medicine student, has demonstrated remarkable talent and commitment. He served as the main organizer of the international MedGames competition in 2022 and 2023 and co-organized the faculty's floorball tournament "Martinský fonendoskop" in 2022. Vencel, also the vice-president of the Martin Medical Students Club, has successfully represented the faculty at various educational fairs and international student forums.
Bruno Almásy, a second-year general medicine student, was recognized for his bravery and quick action that saved a life. He provided immediate and effective first aid to an individual suffering from a sudden cardiac failure, a testament to his professional skills and moral fortitude.
The Rector also acknowledged twenty-seven educators for their significant contributions to the scientific, artistic, and professional successes of their students. Among those honored from JFMED were Prof. RNDr. Erika Halašová, PhD., and Prof. MUDr. Ján Švihra, PhD.
