We Succeed in ENLIGHT Grants

Comenius University Bratislava has once again shown that it is an active participant in the activities of the ENLIGHT alliance. CU academics are taking part in as many as ten of the 39 projects approved under all ENLIGHT grant calls. A project coordinated by the CU Faculty of Medicine also received the highest evaluation.

This year, the ENLIGHT alliance has again earmarked funding to support cooperation among its members. The ENLIGHT Thematic Network and ENLIGHT Incubator Grant calls attracted a record number of applicants: a total of 1,400 academic staff from all 10 partner universities submitted 104 project proposals, representing a 30 percent increase compared to last year. Among the supported projects, CU is the coordinator of one and a partner in three under the ENLIGHT Thematic Network call, and the coordinator of two and a partner in four under the ENLIGHT Incubator Grant call. ENLIGHT Thematic Networks support interdisciplinary academic networks and aim to establish long-term cooperation. ENLIGHT Incubator Grants support joint educational projects (joint programmes, blended mobility, winter/summer schools, joint study programmes, etc.).

“We are very pleased that almost all CU faculties took part in the calls and that the successful projects will be implemented at as many as eight of them. These results show that ENLIGHT is not just an administrative network of universities but a living platform that connects expertise and delivers tangible benefits to society. The success of our academics in the ENLIGHT grant calls confirms Comenius University’s strong position within the alliance and its active contribution to international cooperation,” says CU Vice-Rector for International Relations and ENLIGHT coordinator, Jozef Tancer.

This is further demonstrated by the fact that among all applications submitted under the Incubator Grant call, the project HATCH, coordinated by the CU Faculty of Medicine, received the highest evaluation.
