Lecture by Nobel Prize winner Kip Thorne

Professor Kip S. Thorne, one of the world's leading physicists and laureate of the Physics Nobel Prize for his critical contribution to the LIGO detector and the observation of gravitational waves, is visiting Slovakia. He will give a lecture at Comenius University under the title: My profound relationship with the curved universe: from black holes and wormholes to time travel and gravitational waves.

At the event, Comenius University Rector Marek Števček will present the Grand Gold Medal of Comenius University to him.

Due to the current pandemic situation, only vaccinated guests will be allowed to participate. Registration for the lecture is mandatory and begins after 6 October.

The ceremony at which the Grand Gold Medal of Comenius University will be presented to Professor Kip Thorne, as well as his lecture, will be broadcast live to auditoria of other Slovak universities and streamed live online. Interpretation into Slovak will be provided.

The event is organized by Comenius University in Bratislava and the ESET Foundation.
