Scientists from CU are laureates of the 2024 ESET Science Award

Scientists from Comenius University won in two categories at this year's ESET Science Award. Igor Farkaš won the Outstanding Academic category and František Herman received the Outstanding Scientist in Slovakia under the Age of 35 award. Both are from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of Comenius University. The Public Vote was won by Michal Mego from the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University, who was a finalist in the Outstanding Scientist in Slovakia category.

On 10 October, 2024, the prestigious ESET Science Awards were presented to laureates at a gala evening in the Slovak Philharmonic in Bratislava which was broadcast live by the Slovak Television. The motto of the evening was "The future of our planet." The laureates were chosen by an international jury of experts led by Emmanuelle Charpentier, Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry. Computer scientist Mária Bieliková who founded the Kempelen Institute of Intelligent Education became Exceptional Scientist in Slovakia.

Comenius University researchers became laureates of several awards but they were also finalists in their categories - Milan Sýkora (FNS) in the main category, Matúš Dohál (JFMED) in the Outstanding Scientist under the age of 35, and Helena Bujdáková (FNS) in the Outstanding Academic category.
